About

Best Grade is a free school management program designed for use by schools in sub-Saharan Africa and pioneered in Senegal. The program is currently used by over 300 schools in Senegal, the majority of schools with electricity and computers in that country. Schools range from the most technologically modern to the other extreme of the spectrum. Project Best Grade began in Senegal with a pilot training in Thies in October, 2006.

Over the course of the 2007-2008 school year the software reached a critical level of adoption, with schools independently distributing the software and engaging in trainings. Best Grade has penetrated far-reaching areas, including the eastern provinces on the border of Mali, as well as in the war-torn southern region of Casamance. Additionally, the project is active in Uganda, Rwanda and Mali, with the aims of expanding to Tanzania and Malawi in the near-future.
